I am always looking out for the next best weekend destination to include hiking, biking, photo shoots and maybe even some water sports. Any suggestions for the Southeast region?
What is your best weekend? Let us hear it in the comments!

Going back to Go Mojo’s original roots of hiking/outdoors/travel blog, here is where it begins again…

When first attempting to run trails, there are a number of factors that one must consider compared to running on a road.
The terrain on which one is running can vary dramatically from a smooth dirt path, to a very technical, steep, rocky terrain. The type of terrain you are running on will affect not only what type of shoe you should wear, but also how you will actually run.
Most people who begin running on trails purchase a specific trail running shoe. These usually differ from normal road shoes in their amount of cushioning, foot protection, traction, and weather protection. If you are running on a relatively flat surface, your trail running shoe will have more of the characteristics of a road shoe, but if you are running a very rocky technical trail then you’ll probably want a beefier shoe with lots of foot protection. Your local outfitter (or web store such as GoLite.com) can help you determine which trail shoe is best for conditions in your area.
When running on a road, you really don’t have to pay that much attention to the surface you are running on because it’s totally smooth. But on a trail, there are a lot more variables you need to be aware of such as rocks, roots, mud, uneven terrain, puddles, moss, etc. All of these things need to be considered as you run in order to prevent falling and potential injury. At first this can seem like a lot of information to process, but with a little practice you’ll be surprised just how quickly running on trails can become second nature.
Different terrains and weather also have different grip characteristics that need to be considered. For example, running on smooth rock will have much greater traction than loose gravel. Running across a tree root may provide good grip in dry conditions, but try it when the root is wet and you’ll quickly discover it’s as slippery as ice! And speaking of ice, while that may not provide an ideal running surface (but it can be done!), snow can actually be quite a good running surface if the depth and consistency are right. Be aware of these types of variables and you’ll be able to run in all types of conditions.
As you run over differing terrains it will also affect what the appropriate leg speed is. On a very technical, steep trail with lots of obstacles, you will want to slow down and increase the turnover of your legs. This is the same concept as riding a bicycle up hill when you shift down into a lower gear – you’re moving slower but your legs are turning over much faster. You’ll be taking fewer steps per mile, but each step will be more sure. In contrast, if you’re on a smooth dirt trail you can really let it rip – almost like being on a track!
One of the great advantages of running trails versus road is that a trail is generally much more forgiving than concrete or asphalt. Over the course of many miles or years, a trail will generally have a less jarring effect on your body which, if done taking into consideration the above type of points, can lead to more years of injury free running enjoyment.

I’ve created and authored a lot of web sites/blogs and a friend of mine suggested that with all of theses sites inside of what I call Studio Mojo, I do not have a web presence that I can truly call my own. So, without delay, I am introducing MojoDenbow.info.
Originally, I had a personal website that was basic, free and hosted by Wordpress.com. There were page templates, limited storage and not as customizable as I would have liked. Since then, I decided to create various websites on our own server, with their own domain names as opposed to mojodenbow.wordpress.com to mojodenbow.info. Why .info? It rhymes with my name. Duh!
**Go Mojo.info will revert back to it’s original format: a hiking/travel blog. MojoDenbow.info has become my personal website now.**
To get the latest updates the Mojo has to offer, please add this site to your RSS reader. The address is: http://feeds.feedburner.com/MojoDenbow and if you want the updates delivered to your email inbox instead, be sure to sign up here:
For the other sites in Studio Mojo such as photography, hiking, technology, video blogging and more, the links are provided on the left sidebar of the page.

The Mojo has been super busy and has lost his blogging mojo for over a week. Various reasons apply such as travel, brother’s wedding, day job kicking my tail and new website development.
All will be better soon. For updates you can follow me on Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/mojodenbow

I had an opportunity to shoot George Thorogood & the Destroyers at the Alabama Theatre Sunday night. These guys can still rock and they know it. I’ll edit more photos and post them here & Flickr as well.
A big thank you to Jenna at Mike Donahue Management and most especially to the lovely Angela at Live Nation for escorting me around the theatre!

No, I didn’t get wasted, although at times I sure would have liked it. It started Thursday night when I could not go to sleep. Daphne was sick and fussy. On Friday night I had every intention of going to a party and a sci-fi convention (to photograph the freaks & geeks). Forget it. I was too exhausted. I was so exhausted in fact that I could not sleep until 7:30 AM. I was up twittering with some friends overnight about our severe storms here and Atlanta’s tornado after that.
Any and all plans to clean/organize were lost as well. Who had the energy?
Saturday night and again, no sleep.
was going to mow but the riding mower could not start. I attempted the push mower with the same result. Screw it, I’ll just surf the interwebs.
Tonight, the 3rd and final event for the weekend is the George Thorogood concert at the Alabama Theatre and I am not missing that. I have backstage pass to photograph and I am not going to miss out.
Photos later his week as I need to recover and go back to work. Short work week though because I am flying to Tulsa for my little brother’s wedding. W00t!

When I was growing up, I rocked on the arcade game called Spy Hunter. In this game, the object is to just keep driving and avoid the Bond-like cars, helicopters and boats. A new Pontiac commercial pays homage as seen here. Cool! Now I wonder if they have this game for the Wii…

So this being a Friday, aren’t you glad you don’t have to look at this for another two days? After a long week in a small room with 20 people, 20 laptops and a projector with 75 degree heat, I am out of here, people.
Tonight, I am headed to the Terminal’s first birthday party and OmegaCon. Sunday night I am shooting George Thorogood & the Destroyers and maybe even a couple of groupies while I am backstage. Rock on.
